Hira Mumtaz is a climate finance and energy consultant with over 11 years of experience in ESG strategy, climate finance, and policy advisory. As a Policy Advisor with the Carbon Markets Bureau at Environment and Climate Change Canada, she is passionate about shaping Canada’s pathway to a low-carbon economy and advancing meaningful emissions reductions.

Hira’s career has taken her across South Asia, the Middle East, and North America, advising governments, international organizations, and private companies on innovative climate and energy solutions—from carbon pricing mechanisms to sustainable investment strategies. She has collaborated with organizations like the World Bank, USAID, and UNIDO to drive progress on emissions trading, ESG integration, and climate resilience, using her expertise to turn complex policy challenges into actionable strategies.

A proud Fulbright Scholar, Hira serves on the Steering Committee for CAFIID’s Community of Practice on Climate Finance, where she aims to help develop solutions that support global sustainability goals. She holds a Master of Public Policy focused on energy, climate, and finance from the University of Michigan and is certified in climate risk by the CFA Institute.
