CAFIID was pleased to work with with Supivaa and the Canadian High Commission in Nairobi to bring together over 80 participants to discuss gender lens investing (GLI) and to launch CAFIID’s second round of GLI case studies, available here.

Key Learnings

  • Gender Diverse Solutions: CAFIID members highlighted their innovative strategies for mainstreaming gender into their work as investors, evaluators, and technical assistance providers. 

  • Shaping Funding Solutions: Funders shared their strategies for integrating gender into their investment processes and systems and highlighted the importance of cultivating gender champions. We discussed how leading development organizations like Global Affairs Canada are critical allies in promoting gender lens investing to their network of partners and scale gender lens investing practices globally. 

  • Enacting Gender Inclusive Strategies: Local SMEs and WSMEs spoke about using gender as an optimization opportunity—not just for social impact, but for innovation and business growth. They shared ways to overcome gender barriers in the workplace and scale their business using gender lens capital. 

  • The Future of GLI: The panel discussions looked ahead to the next 5-10 years of GLI, forecasting emerging trends and the necessary steps to mainstream gender lens investing across sectors.
