DESCRIPTION
The Canada Forum for Impact Investment and Development (CAFIID) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to increasing the value and volume of impact investment in the developing world. As a member-based organization, CAFIID serves as a platform for members to learn, share, and collaborate to advance impact investing and sustainable development.
CAFIID is a non-solicitation organization, meaning it did not not receive more than $10,000 annually in public donations in 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and strong financial management, we are seeking an external auditor to conduct an independent financial audit for our fiscal year.
Objective
The objective of this audit is to provide an independent opinion on CAFIID’s financial statements in accordance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant standards for not-for-profit organizations.
Scope of Work
The auditor will be responsible for:
Conducting an annual financial audit in compliance with Canadian accounting and auditing standards for not-for-profit organizations.
Reviewing CAFIID’s financial statements, accounting records, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Assessing compliance with non-soliciting organization regulations under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.
Identifying any financial risks, irregularities, or areas for improvement in financial management.
Providing a management letter with recommendations, if applicable.
Presenting the audit report to the CAFIID Board of Directors.
Timeline
Application deadline: April 25, 2025
Auditor selection and contract signing: June 2025
Audit fieldwork: July – August 2025
Final Report: September 1st, 2025
Required Qualifications
The selected audit firm should have:
CPA certification and experience auditing not-for-profit organizations in Canada.
Familiarity with non-soliciting organizations under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.
Experience working with member-based organizations or impact investing-related entities (preferred).
The ability to provide recommendations on financial management improvements while maintaining independence.
Proposal Submission
Interested firms should submit a proposal that includes:
A brief background of the firm, including relevant experience.
Proposed audit methodology and approach for conducting the engagement.
Estimated fees and any additional costs.
Timeline and availability to meet CAFIID’s audit schedule.
Contact details of at least two references from similar engagements.
